What is There to Do When There is Nothing You Can Do?

Greetings Fellow Travelers ...

We've all been here at one time or another during our lifetime- sitting in a waiting room. For the last several hours I have read from 2 different books, updated my Facebook status several times, and wandered aimlessly and aim-fully.

Right now, I am very grateful for empty electrical outlets and ample chargers for all my electronics, including an eReader.

Add to that, I'm watching whatever the Holder of the Remote chooses. Since I am the only one in the room who seems to enjoy the Discovery Channel and the History Channel, you can bet that my mind will wander away from the putrid  sludge wafting down from the flat screen.

I am also thankful for the thoughts and prayers coming our way and disappointed that the folks I thought would always be there for me are not.

Hours have passed with an unknown number of hours left to wait. The surgeons must do what they need to do. They cannot be rushed.

My heart aches. My mind wonders yet again.

Finally, some news- nothing to report, no complications or issues, “so far, so good.”

Family, which was packing the place earlier, has drifted off to go about their business. Some have work, some have other pressing needs. I can understand this. Yet, I cannot leave. I must be here. This is where I am supposed to be.

Then, I am remember something- My God is in control. Circumstances will try to steal my Joy, my Hope, but my Hope and my Joy rest in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Nothing can steal them away.

I glance up at the clock one more time ...

It's tough when the world goes on for others when ours has stopped, but stay focused on the LORD, nobody can take that away, and know that those who love you and your family are with you in spirit even if they cannot be in the waiting room with you now. Art prayed again just before dinner, and do remember how many others are have done and are doing the same. Thank you for the updates. Writing may calm you, but it gives all of what we need as well, as we wait from a far with you. Hugs to you and Janie and all the family.
