Greetings Fellow Travelers ...
What I would walk a mile for ...
A good story. Of course, it doesn't have to be written by me!
There's no way of knowing how man tmes I have been seized by an author and dragged into a world created only to tell a story, such as "The Time Machine," by H.G. Wells.
Or, how about "The Green Mile," by Stephen King. "The Ruins," by Scott Smith, or "The Amulet," by Ken McCreless, (sorry, had to slip that one in).
Everyone needs a good story, and books are by far the best way to tell one, wouldn't you say? After all, the human mind can take words and convert them into anything imaginable- and unimaginable. Books, whether electronic or old-school, are treasures waiting to be discovered again and again. How else can a London sophisticate venture tens or hundreds of thousands of years into the future and battle fearful Morlocks? And, how can we ride along and share he adventure in total safety?
AH, yes, the book. Now THAT'S someting to walk a mile for!

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)Hi Bro-Bro - I agree! It's great to escape to different worlds through the beauty of words. There is never enough time...although, I was watching the Twilight Zone marathon on the 4th - the one where the world ended, save Burgis Meredith and all the time in the world he now had to read but then he broke his glasses. Hhmm, maybe I stick with the time I have :-)I seem to remember that episode. Great stuff!!
Have you ever watched the old movie version of "The Time Machine," with Rod Taylor? I would be just like him when he found the books and tried to pick one up, only to have it crumble to bits.
Still, I wonder what I would do if I ever came across an actual working time machine ..........
I would walk a mile for a chance to read articles such as this. Well done, sir.Hey Michael! It's good to "see" you.
Thanks for the support. It really means a lot.
I agree Ken. I read in bed every night before going to sleep. It is time I treasure. When I fly (now I am flying on SouthWest so I can choose my seat), I look for others to sit next to who have a book. My great fear is that I won't read all the books I want to before I die. Hope God has a library!
Thanks for sharing.
I read between 2-3 books a week. Going blind is my biggest fear. Keep writing. I am following.
