Is the Proposed Burning of the Qur'an a Political Stunt? No Doubt!

Greetings Fellow Travelers
As I'm sure you've heard by now, there's a group planning to burn the Qur'an on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on America, targeting the World Trade Center. I chose not to mention the groups name or agenda in this piece, a clear sign of the arrogance and stupidity of the planned act.
While I believe the Muslim religion to be wrong in its doctrine and practice, and that the proposed mosque site two blocks from Ground Zero is wrong in every way but legally, the burning of the Qur'an as some sort of misplaced protest or declaration is simply an ignorant idea, born of a ideology anchored in sensationalistic propaganda rather than Christian American thinking.
There certainly can be no sound reasoning behind it. After all, the victims, those who died, were injured, and those who love them, of every race and religion, will in no way be honored by this display.
In fact, the only outcome will be more hatred for America and Christianity. The feeling of power and superiority gained by those who participate will vanish as quickly as a KKK member can remove his hood.
So, I call upon every one who is even considering lighting up a Qur'an on the 11th, or any other date, to instead light a scented candle to drive out the wretched stench of ignorance and stupidity before it's too late. The power of God through Jesus Christ is unstoppable and unchangeable and desecrating a book, or building, or home, or anything else, in the name of God, will not please Him.
Take the cash you would spend on matches and copies of the Qur'an and pay an old man's electricity bill, or feed some hungry children. That WILL please God.
However, if you claim to be Christian and insist on doing this, then, well, stock up on shaving cream and disposable blades, so that you can keep both of your faces neat.

Top-level comments on this article: (5 total)Good conclusion, Ken! How can people consider doing something like this. I'm so tired of all the violence-lust in the world...
Good article sir, however, since a majority of Christians believe that the earth is only a few thousand years old, when you say, " Christian American Thinking,: exactly what are you referring to?
Of course it's a stunt! Too bad he's getting so much coverage. My brother Arabs aren't helping matters, either, of course: "Islaam is peaceful, and if you burn our book there will be violence!" Well done, sir.
Oh my I adore your last sentence. Kudos for pointing out the fact a supposed Christian is not being very Christ like with his actions.Grace
