Greetings Fellow Travelers …
A few days ago I spent quite a bit of time on the NASA website, looking at the photographs offered there. Since there was a clear permission given to download and use them I did, and am doing, just that!
Beautiful, amazing images there! Galaxies and nebula's and clouds of gases and stars and endless vast and breath-taking space! Wow!
How can anyone see that and be an atheist? How could such majesty come together as a series of accidents?
I can see how easy it would be for God to place Heaven, my eventual home, in such an environment. Such endless beauty! Such endless possibilities! An accident? Evolution? Puleese!
And what about Hell, the final home of those who turn down God's offer of salvation through His Son, Jesus? I can see how the vast void of space would make an ideal place to send someone who denies the cross. Pitch dark, extreme cold, total isolation afforded by an endless universe.
Look at this picture from NASA.

Can you see how beautiful this is? I realize that there is an unimaginable amount of area shown here, if viewed from the human perspective. How will it look when we're with Jesus? It will look like Home then!
Now look at this one.

Here we can see a huge amount of "void," area which has nothing in it. Can you imagine being a soul anchored somewhere in this, cold, alone, total darkness, your soul unable to reflect light or to enjoy the beauty of God's heaven?

Could this be what the tormented soul was in as he looked towards "Abraham's bosom," as described in Luke 16:19-31? If Hell is indeed a flaming place, how about this picture?
Looks hot to me. Could a soul, who did not heed the calling of the Holy Spirit, end up in a place like this? And, if so, would they be able, if only for a minute or two, see the Believers rejoicing with God?
I believe they could. Our souls are made up of energy, as is everything in the universe. The death of our carbon-based bodies does not end our souls with it. We are released from our fleshy prisons upon our death. The question is, are we sent to yet another prison, or to be FREE with God forever?
The choice is yours.
Those photos do make one sit back and contemplate the wonders of ourselves, our Creator and life in general. Fantastic!GraceThank you, Grace.I can spend so much time looking "into" these pictures!
I love anything about the universe and the stars, Ken. Sometimes at night I look up and take in the majesty of this beautiful (and violent, of course) sight. Great article, sir.Thank you, Michael!I'm the same. Just knowing that the universe goes on endlessly is enough to get my brain caught in a loop!
These photos are so beautiful. I have to say I don't believe in eternal damnation, though, Ken...Thank you, Jennifer. How can there not be eternal damnation? Do our spirits just dissolve when we die? No. We have a choice and a Savior!
