Greetings Fellow Travelers

As you well know, this weekend is when we celebrate Memorial Day. I have no doubt that there will be tons of articles that will pore over the details of the history of this sacred holiday, so I will not.

Instead, I'll send out a blessing.

May God Bless the families of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to defend our Freedom. May their days be filled with peace, may their lives be filled with untold blessings and may the memory of their departed loved one remain strong and reassuring. Let this day be celebrated in such a way as to bring the much deserved honor to those people who have earned it.

Now, as promised, a curse.

For those who decide to celebrate Memorial Day by getting drunk and placing others in danger because of their selfish stupidity, May God inflict on you the greatest punishment short of an eternity in hell. May He hold a mirror so that you see the wretched filthiness your soul, the horrid disrespect you have chosen to spit upon the memory of our fallen heroes.

SO many lives will be destroyed as so many people will decide to use this day as just another excuse to get drunk. Please, have a wonderful day, share it with family and friends, enjoying the Freedom that came at such a heavy price- and still does.

To those who served, Thank You. To those whose weekend will not be spent rushing to a sale or cracking another keg, but instead will be spent nursing a heavy heart in remembrance of a loved one, God Bless You.

To those who decide to abuse alcohol, I said ABUSE alcohol, and drive, may your life be the only one destroyed.

Good article Ken, I do hope this holiday is spent mourning for our fallen comrades and not as an excuse to get drunk and put the lives of others in harms way.

Thank you David, both for reading and more so for serving.

Yes, let us honor the fallen by celebrating their lives, not adding to the death toll.

Hi Ken. As a Christian I'm committed to keeping Jesus advice to bless and not curse. I struggle with your words and actions to curse though I do understand the actions behind it.

I am against drink driving and feel sorry for every victim of it,,,this includes their family and friends of both the driver and anyone else involved in any accident.

I understand what you're saying, Craig. I just don't share what seems to be the religious consensus of Christ, that is, some pasty-white milquetoast who would never raise his voice or harm a fly.

I see Jesus as a man who at times was soft and gentle, as in "suffer the children to come unto me," and at times a warrior. He got up in peoples faces, remember "Scribes and Pharisees. Hypocrites!" Think about it. He didn't stand at the temple entry and announce, "Alright, you guys! I'm gonna stand here and bless you until you stop cheating people!"

Thanks for stopping by.

A beautiful blessing, I endorse it wholeheartedly.

As for the curse- boy, I'd hate to get on your wrong side!

Have a wonderful weekend, Ken!

Was all the negativity necessary?

Yes. If all you want to see is positive stuff then go watch Sesame Street.
There is nothing positive or uplifting about people who are too stupid and self-centered to realize that the rancid legacy handed to them is now going to their children, or that someone who is alive when they start their weekend will be DEAD on Monday because of their stupidity.
