The True Nature and Purpose of Love- What Your Mom May Not Have Told You

Greetings Fellow Travelers

Who doesn't want Love? Who doesn't want a magic bullet that will cure all ills? The problem? Too many folks are laboring under the delusion that the two are the same, that Love can cure or fix anything. The sad news is this

Love can't fix or cure anything.

It's the action taken in the name of Love that makes the difference. It is not the major warm fuzzy that permeates our being and sends us into orbit.

It's the hungry child tearing into a hot meal. It's the soldier overseas opening a letter from home.

It's the phone call for no reason other than to "see how you're doing." It's the toys dropped off anonymously for the children who otherwise would not have anything for Christmas.

It's holding the door open for a total stranger who may be elderly and needing assistance.

I could go on and on, and later I just might, but you should have the picture by now.

As I have written before, "Love is a verb."

You've seen the abused wife holding on to a relationship that is not only unhealthy but dangerous. When asked why the response is universal.

" Because I Love him!" No. She is looking to have a deficiency filled and thrives off the abuse/affection merry-go-round that he has her on. Does that sound like Love to you?

Does everyone, or better yet, anyone , "deserve" Love? Yes and no.

Think about this. Does everyone deserve to have a beautiful rose garden or just those wiling to put in the time and effort required? Yes, I agree, not all of us even have enough land, or any land, or other resources needed for such a thing. But, we all have a heart. We all have a soul. That is the "garden" needed to have Love.

Any one can have Love. Anyone can deserve to have Love. However, it is not cheap and it is not easy.

Love requires sacrifice. Love responds to sacrifice.

Love is a verb. It's insane to think you must be abused in order to be eligible for it. It's insane to think of it as automatic.

Love cannot save you. Your willingness to open yourself up to Love will.

Hi Marijo,

The book is doing fine. I wasn't expecting a best-seller my first time out and I'm not looking to get rich. I love what I'm doing, and THAT'S what counts.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting.
