Drywall Poisoning? Why Upset the Chinese? It's Just a Little Hydrogen Sulfide

Greetings Fellow Travelers

Just got through reading a report on Yahoo about drywall. It seems that thousands of homes across the US have been fitted with tainted drywall from China. According to the report even the wiring, AC units computers and doorknobs have been adversely affected by emission of up to "100 times as much hydrogen sulfide as drywall made elsewhere."

The article includes quotes by Daniel Becnel, attorney for New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton and others, says the government guidelines concerning this mess were "word for word what our experts said."

Thousands of people are now faced with the added burden of having their newly renovated homes gutted and re-done, replacing expensive components. The pitiful sheet rock was used in the homes of many folks who now have to decide on how to pay for the fix.

There are several instances in the piece where the government is called on to do something. "You're," referring to the government, "making these people sicker and sicker and sicker. You will have long term effects." This quote, given by Mr. Becnel, is buttressed by a call for congress to give grants to homeowners to have their homes gutted.

Now hold on just a minute. Have none of these folks heard about the problems surrounding the sale of bonds? Do they not understand the severity of consequence if the Feds cannot raise the cash for healthcare reform, infrastructure repair, etc?

Do we really want to get the Chinese mad at us?

Take a stroll around your house. Pick up ten objects at random. How many were "Made in China?" How much loan money will any type of negativity aimed at China cost us? That money has got to come from somewhere, you know. If the government can't get it from China it will get it from us. Of course, WE, that's You and I and our children down several generations, will have to pay China back, but still.

The philosophy of the American people and the United States Government is "borrow now, worry about consequences later." That is why this great country is in such straits.

I feel that everyone should read "The Total Money Makeover," by Dave Ramsey, from the President on down.

However, we're talking about drywall here. We're also talking about the health of our citizens, some of which are elderly, few of which can afford such a mess.

What will happen? The government will step in and pay out millions to help, which they should. It will end there. Never in a million years will be Chinese government be forced to compensate the American people for cleaning up their screw up- never.

Again, WE will be strapped with yet another financial burden that will hamper our abilities to pay for it. The "dog chasing its tail" will speed up'

Two things need to happen.

1. The American companies that imported this garbage need to be hit hard with fines and reparations.

2. The US government needs to deduct any and all costs of cleaning up this mess from what is owed to China. The Chinese will want to keep the "fattened calf" that is The United States of America on its leash, enough to take care of this problem.

Okay, THREE things.

Stop raising taxes! Increased taxes only stifle growth! Repeat.

Increased taxes only stifle growth!

I hope someone who can make a difference gets to read this piece, like a registered voter.

I'm very much afraid the same will be true for Canada, Thank heaven we've had no renovations done lately!

My apologies for taking so long to respond.

Yes indeed, but, if you do, triple check where the drywall was made.
