Greetings Fellow Travelers … Well, my first book is officially published on Lulu and will soon be listed in such sites as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I am SO excited! A BIG thanks to Janie for her hard work promoting me and publicizing my book and to Frank Patti for his anal retentive approach to my writing.

Next on the agenda is Taagenwulf. It's a story about a prominent physician who has a big heart and a bigger problem- a bite from a werewolf. He lives his life as best he can, though.

I am also writing a story about me, my autobiography. It had been slated as the next offering from Espy Publishing, but had to be bumped. It's just too hard to work on it for very long. It was conducting some research for it that I ran into today's topic.

Rodney Alcala.

The CBS website features several photo galleries, one of which contains about 90 or so pictures taken before 1979. There are some shots of boys but most are of women, both candid and posed. The Huntington Beach, California Police Department released them in hopes of identifying the individuals.

Alcala was convicted for the 1979 murder of 12 year old Robin Samsoe. Witnesses testified that she was riding her bike to ballet practice when she was stopped by Alcala and asked to pose for photographs. Such a vile and reprehensible, loathsome toad.

Check these pictures out. If you think you recognize anybody contact Huntington Beach detective Patrick Ellis at 714-375-5066 or pellis@hbpd.org.

Getting back to the article. Maybe it was the era depicted in the pictures or the fact that these folks may be victims, or a combination of both, but I crashed. My upbeat demeanor nosedived into a depression that I am familiar with, not a suicidal depression, but a debilitating one.

So I turned to my old friend, the keyboard, and started writing. Feelings of hopelessness and despair are melting away as the words flow, replaced by hope and optimism and anticipation for the future of my work.

Add to that an uplifting conversation with my editor and the rejuvenation is complete. I refuse to be a victim any more.

It's strange how my mood can change with just the sight of a photograph taken during the 70's.

It's wonderful how my mood can change when I refuse to accept the depression that tries to overwhelm me.

It's incredible how it's all up to me. Not what hits me during the day but how I deal with it.

Don't let the negativity of the world and those who embrace it kill your chance at happiness.
