Greetings Fellow Travelers ...
I was watching the news yesterday when a familiar face appeared on screen. It was one of those "where do I know that person" moments. I could not remember how or where that lady had crossed my path.
Then I saw the words "Jihad Jane," and my interest was piqued.
She lived in the same general area of town that I have lived in for some years now. Her real name is Colleen Larose, 46 years old, and she is a terrorist. She was arrested in Philadelphia, and is charged with plotting terrorist activities worldwide, including a plan to kill a Swedish citizen who drew a cartoon of Allah with the body of a dog.
Now, we all know that there are those among us who want to kill us. At least I HOPE we all know that. Still, it's sobering to know that there was such a person so close to where I live.
Does this mean that I should look at everyone as a terror suspect? Absolutely not. That is what someone like Larose wants. I will continue to live my life as I have always done.
Actually, I will ramp up my enjoyment of life. Each little aspect of my time on earth will be enhanced to the fullest and my only fear is to die without having done that. Flashes of memory where I might have actually looked upon the face of a killer only solidifies my resolve.
And isn't that the only real way to defeat terrorism? Cowering and surrendering our rights in favor of "protection" only provides fodder for imperialistic leaders intent on fulfilling their self-deifying agenda.
Just as Jihad Jane may have sold me a Diet Coke at a convenience store, a flag waving politician may be looking to oppress me while claiming to be a champion of personal freedom.
If you believe otherwise you're kidding yourself.

A neighborhood terrorist certainly would add some spice to life. I almost envy you. But then, if there was one in my area, I wouldn't necessarily know about it, would I?No, you wouldn't, not until it was too late.Thank you, Carolyn, for the support and the banana trees!
This was interesting. Enjoyed it!Thank you, Beth, and Welcome to SearchWarp!
Thinking that they'll feature just about anything if a popular writer. Are you serious?I'm popular?!
You are absolutely right, it could be anyone. As long as we don't buy into the 'it could be everyone' hype, we'll be fine. Strange that there are only a handful of these incidents, isn't it? The lure of terrorizing fellow citizens, especially hated Americans, would seem to be almost irresistable to many of our young impressionable minds.Well done, sir.Exactly. To be afraid and suspicious would play into the hands of both the terrorists and crooked politicians.Thank you, Michael.
