My Wonderful Valentine

Greetings Fellow Travelers ...
The day was a bit colder than I would have liked but the sky was a brilliant blue and a scant few clouds dared to interrupt it.
Janie, my sweetheart, and I rode Janine, the Harley, to breakfast, then took a long ride to the island, up the island to Port Aransas, then to Portland for a movie, "The Wolfman," then home. The trip lasted the entire day, but seemed to be over in a flash.
It had been a while since we were able to be together like this. She is in cosmetology school and also doing publicity work for me and I have stared at my computer monitor so much I have trouble focusing on anything else.
We needed this day.
I stayed off the freeway as much as I could, taking back roads with long, winding curves and rural scenery. Saratoga Boulevard served us well, with little traffic and clear conditions.
Once on the island the conditions improved even more. The few clouds that dotted the sky when we started our trip disappeared completely. The leg of the trip up Padre Island to Port Aransas was straight and clear.
Once in "Port A" we stopped for coffee. The staff at the What-a-Burger treated us like royalty, giving service rarely seen in today's world. We snapped a few pics.
Then, a first. I had been across the ship channel on the ferry many times in my life, but never on a motorcycle. It was fun! We stayed on the bike and I kept us in balance in spite of the mild pitching and rolling. The water was clear and gorgeous.
I took the scenic route from Port Aransas, through Aransas Pass and Ingleside to Portland, where we saw "The Wolfman."
Afterwards we rode home, crossing the Harbor Bridge and arriving at the house frozen but happy.
I Love You, Janie, and I will never forget Valentine's Day 2010. Thank you for your love, for your support of my fledgling writing career, and for being my best friend.
You truly are The Greatest.
