One you've kept inside?
If I may be so bold
I want to write and to ride.
Is it crazy to you?
That I want to ride?
Just my baby and me,
On my Super Glide?
A pouch for a laptop
A two-up for my queen
Then jump on the blacktop
Go where we've never been.
And stop to observe
To rest and to write
And maybe go on
Or just spend the night
No time clock to smack
No boss to appease
No time to look back
Just our own will to please.
To follow our star
To where she might lead
And not own a car
To not have a need.
"Me and you"
Remember the song?
"And a dog named Boo"
Will waft us along.
But the dream is gone
As quick as it came
I still hear the song
As she calls my name.
But she is not here
And the babies are needing
Some cry in fear
Some choking, some bleeding.
So here I'll stay
Till it's time to go
Believe me I'll say
And all of you will know
That my baby and I
Though once we both cried
Are ready to fly
On my Super Glide
ken, great job, I'm ready as well to go and leaave it all behind. Sfter all what is really important in life?"what is really important in life?" That is the question America needs to re-visit. Thanks for stopping by, Robert. It is now and always appreciated.
You've done a great job of writing a poem about escaping from the everyday. My escape dream has always been to live on a beach in the Cook Islands and be a regular at the local beach pub. Sounds kind of strange, but I love the South Pacific and would love to retire there. That does sound good. I'm glad you liked it, I was hoping you would.
Wow Ken, I knew you had it in you....this is a wonderful, and carefree ride with the one you love on your super glide......I am very impressed with your poem. I think it is something that we all long for, the wind to our backs, and no worries. Espeically with our special lady, who love you so.....she will go, where ev'r you go. Great job buddy....and somehow, I just had this feeling it would be good. Your are a exceptional writer, I love the way you write, and how you put things together.... Great job my friend, and I look forward to more, and more. How do you like Davids poetry, his is great, (I hope I have him talked into researching making a book, I for one would buy one, but he would have to sign it for me, I think you are working on a book as well, and so am I, called "Life's Little Hiccups' , Navy Daze"Wow, Gary. Thank you for such a wonderful review. Your opinion is so important to me. And, I too am anxiously witing for David to put his work in book form. Thanks again...
It is a good poem. The poem rhyme is unconventional - I like it. Well done.Thank you, Connor for the positive comment. Poetry is not my forte, but I enjoy writing it anyway. I have spent many hours reading Robert Frost and Edgar Allen Poe- an odd mix, but it works for me!!
